The plant for sale is a well-established seed-grown (sown summer 2020) individual from artificially-propagated seed, shown in the fourth through sixth images. It is planted in a soil-less mixture of fine bark, tree fern fiber, sphagnum, and pumice in a 5"/13 cm plastic hydro basket. Overall plant height with pot is 18”/45 cm and initiating one of more new leaf/leaves as of mid September 2024 as shown in the last image. Zamia pseudoparasitica is a spectacular epiphytic cycad and a must-have addition for any collection of rare greenhouse or tropical conservatory plants. Endemic to the Caribbean foothills and coastal rainforests of central and western Panama, most plants in cultivation have originated from either collected seed or seedlings. This plant is a clean, healthy, F1 example grown from seed produced in Queensland, Australia from founder stock collected by a well-known American orchid taxonomist in western Panamá during the early 1990s. The plant will mature new growth this winter to produce its first multipinnate leaves, and should be ready to move up to an 8”/20 cm basket by late next year. With care and under optimal conditions, this species can start coning and hold up to a dozen leaves to 7’/2.10 m long or more in cultivation after only six years from seed sow.
