Description: Up for sale is an XXL TOP CUTTING of the very tropical looking - Philodendron mexicanum (Red Back Form) Last 4 Photos are of the TOP CUTTING for Sale This form of P. mexicanum has a very attractive red coloration to the underside of its leaves. This Philo has long been a standard in my garden for a number of reasons- First off, it has the classic TROPICAL look- the leaves are shaped in an elongated Y and look amazing running up a tree, rock waterfall or other support- the first photo you see is an example of Philodendron mexicanum in my Central Florida Garden- it is growing up a palm trunk and I grow it outdoors unprotected (other than nearby canopy).. which brings me to another reason why I use P. mexicanum in the landscape alot- it is pretty darn TOUGH. I've had it get through the upper 20's without any real setbacks. It can take a variety of light conditions, from shade to an (almost) full sun and still look great- a non-stop all day sun is a bit much for it though. It also grows at a fairly quick pace, so getting a large mature specimen doesn't take too long. If given a support to climb, the leaves start to get quite large, about 30"+ long, and nice and fat. The red coloration on the leaves is an added bonus! It works equally well as a houseplant near a sunny window, and can take quite a bit of drought, although it really thrives in a lightly moist soil. This is a great tropical plant for both the beginner and collector alike- I highly recommend it- give it something to climb and watch it go!
