Description: Turtle to my Ancestors Cherokee-Choctaw is Sacred, we believe that Turtle carries the World on Her Back. I Have made this Beautiful Turtle Shell Meditation Rattle from a Red Eared Slider Turtle (Not Endangered). Shell has been cleaned inside and out and then a clear varnish is sprayed over it front and back. The shell itself measures approx. (over the top of the shell) 8" L X 7 1/2" W, the handle is approx. 7" long with an additional 9" with the Unique hand twisted fringe, glass beads and 1" Brass Cones. The handle is covered with soft Deer Leather as well as around the shell to hold the corn and sage inside the shell. I have put Beaver fur around the handle with a beadwrap around the handle using glass beads, and tied to the handle 3 Peacock feathers with glass beads and tins, and there is a tie at the back if you want to hang it on your wall.
