Description: For sale is a brass and boxwood navigational rolling parallel rule made by W.H. Harling of London. The top of the instrument has this makers name and also has the owners name - R.W.V. Hamilton. Lieut. Hamilton was an RAF pilot in World War Two. He was killed in action, failing to return from carrier based air operations 26 November 1940 in the attack of Taranto Italy which put the Italian Fleet out of the war. This piece is in very good condition and could still be used. Comes with a plastic compass marked W.H. Harling along with some hand written notes. One of the drafting type instruments is missing from the lid. The right side of the box has a brass plate with the owners name - R.W.V. Hamilton. Please see the photos for details. The rule measures 15" x 2 3/4". The case measures 15 7/8" x 3 1/2". A unique WWII item owned by this British pilot. Thanks for looking. Check out my other listings.
