Description: Here we have a very fine World War II 82nd Airborne Division channel crossing patch that is in excellent condition. This is a standard, khaki cut edge 82nd Airborne patch that has the area between the top of the patch and the bottom of the “Airborne” arc filled in with light khaki colored material as originally made and before being cut away after manufacture. There is a thin vertical red line stitched between the patch and the arc which was rumored to have represented the actual D-Day crossings and jump. This was a practice employed by D-Day veterans of the Division to show that they had taken part in the actual invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. The back of the patch has a white bobbin thread and is clean and undamaged. It remains a very handsome and historic patch. 9013
