Description: This knife came from the home of a serious military enthusiast. An experienced military knife collector stated that it was originally a Japanese bayonet made by Japan Arsinal Company near Tokyo that was later fashioned into a knife by a GI. The region of this knifes origin is most likely Guam, PI, Okinawa. The construction techniques and materials definitely line up with the hand-made trench knives of this period. This knife could use some professional repairs on the handle where the leather rings have disintegrated. It is in otherwise excellent condition. The handle material is made of aluminum, some red and clear glass or plastic and the leather rings. This most likely was a bayonet that was fashioned into the knife during the conflict. The blade is razor sharp. The knife fits into the metal scabbard very well and the leather clasp holds the knife firmly in place. The handle is tight and the boot on the handle butt gives the knife a personalized special unique signature. This would make a great addition to any military collection and an awesome American military history conversation piece.
