Description: Below please see my findings on the history of this piece. *This Steamer trunk was manufactured in Berlin Germany and is an original Albert Rosenhain trunk *travel tags attached are for one Jutta L Hager up into the mid 1960s *Jutta was the daughter of Karl and Elizabeth Hager *(K)Carl Hager was one of the original 127 “rocketmen” hand picked by Dr Wernher Von Braun for operation paperclip. Carl was part of the Argentina group, the first German scientists and engineers to arrive in the US on November 16 1945 *This trunk belonged to Carl Hager as identified by the stenciling present and backed up by Jutta’s travel tags. Trunk was procured outside of Boston where Jutta passed away in 2022. This was the original trunk that Carl fled a war torn Germany to the US to assist in americas Rocket program and become one of the first members of Operation Paperclip CONDITION sold as is as procured Please see photos, all canvas intact with original stenciling from manufacturer. Some tears and worn spots in the canvas as shown. Travel tags and military stencils as shown. No internal pieces as shown. The piece is solid and intact with a few minor period repairs as shown Again, we have taken every effort to photograph this piece with all angles shown
