Description: WWII Rough-Out Combat Boots Seabee (NCB) Style Interesting pair of what originally were double-buckle top combat boots, but had the 4” leather gaiter at the top removed. The long tongue however, was not cut back. I have seen photos of U.S. Navy Seabees (Naval Construction Battalions or NCB) wearing boots modified in this manner. In the hot tropical climate of the Pacific Theater, Seabees often worked in shorts and the high leather cuffs were uncomfortable so the just removed them. These boots are well worn from use with some repairable stitching failures on the seams. Right boot has a collector or museum repair of a small (1/2”) triangular cut in the leather. (It appears to be sewn closed with very fine transparent nylon thread to close it rather than repair it.) They have their original WWII Plymouth Rubber Co. “SLIPKNOT” soles and heels, sewn and nailed to the welt with brass nails. The front tip of the right boot sole is cracked. Leather is pliable but dry. No shoe laces present. We combine & ship worldwide. Shipping will be calculated on check-out.
