He also served in the Korean War, where he was credited in destroying 3.5 enemy aircraft before he was subsequently shot down and taken prisoner. During World War II, Heller flew 145 combat missions and was credited with the destruction of 5.5 enemy aircraft in aerial combat plus 14 aircraft destroyed on the ground while strafing enemy airfields. While serving with the 352nd FG, he flew P-47 and P-51s bearing the names "Happy" and "HELL-ER BUST". This signed photo is a copy of an actual period photo.
