Description: This is a serious historical collection scanned to a DVD, the originals of which will soon go to a military museum. The collection was compiled by my late father, Brigadier General Robert M. Leich, who was one of the founders of Army Aviation as we know it today. There are four (4) meticulously compiled albums of photos and articles of the Liaison Aircraft Program with the Piper l-4 and Stinson L-5 airplanes, scanned to a disk totaling 370 beautifully preserved pages. These albums cover the beginnings of the Liaison Aircraft Program with "The Class Before One" at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in early 1942, through WWII when then Colonel Leich was the Air Officer for the 9th U.S. Army, followed by every article on Liaison aircraft that he saw published anywhere through the year 1962. the second photo attached hereto provides a recap of my father's involvement in Army Aviation from its 1942 founding, through the retention of an Aviation component for the Army at the time the USAF was created post-WWII, up until his passing in 1983 The Disk contains the following:Scrapbook Album 1942-1943 (the attached photos are from this album)Scrapbook Album 1943-1946Scrapbook Album 1942-1962Scrapbook Album - Personal papers & Clippings 1942-1962Photo of "The Class Before One" - Ft.
