Description: Thank you for viewing our listings. This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild. Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices. The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. These particular card was printed in remembrance of: Leo Weinberger Leo was a Sergeant in the Luftwaffe and was a Pilot in a Night Fighter Squadron. He was awarded the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class and can be seen wearing the Pilots Badge in his photo as well as an Adjutants Lanyard. Leo fell on April 29, 1944 in combat at the age of 26.
