Description: The watercolor with the battleship measures 24.5in. by 37in. This watercolor has been attached to a piece of backing paper (a long time ago by the artist) There is an unintentional waterline which follows the red haze (I believe this was still placed there by the artist). Some wrinkles, pinhole sized stains, and browning line. The aircraft in the sky look like SBD Dauntless to me. I am unable to translate the characters on these paintings. The watercolor showing the artillery port is 12.25in. by 30in. The paper is very fragile (so much so that I am not going to flip it upside down. Numerous tears and frayed edges on this piece that if not held down all at once would tear. These are extremely old and fragile genuine pieces that need to be framed. Comes rolled. I was told by the previous owner (out of Kanazawa city Japan) that these were donated pieces made to the Greater East Asia wartime Photography Department. Donated by the heavy artillery corps of Ishikawa Prefecture. So presumedly these were painted by a soldier in the heavy artillery corps during the war. Two very rare WW2 Pieces that are very valuable from a side of the war that in the United States is still relatively unexplored. If you can find someone to translate these I'm positive that you would find some very interesting information from the writing that is on them. This does not come with the wooden boxes used to hold the edges down.
