Description: Antique original United States military issue World war one U.S. battlefield Medical MEDICS backpack USGI WW1 M1912 U.S Rucksack battlefield Medic equipment kit bag both halfs are marked R.I.A. 1917 Along with the “ R.Co. “ and a solider s name marked on the front flaps 1912 Pattern Cavalry Ration Bags / Knapsack considered experimental , this equipment satchel is the granddaddy of the WWII medics pouch It comes with an old original old Plaster of Paris bandage plaster , no other contents ( except for a few vestiges of dried up battlefield grass ) originally designed for use by the cavalry, these were appropriated by the medics and n the front lines by the Medical Corps during WWI and early days of WWII The dual packs made it much easier for medics to carry life saving medical equipment Well used , The leather connection thong ties are dry and fragile ( they could be easily replaced if desired) It shows typical stains and wear ( after all , it’s over 106 years old and probably been through two wars !) the bronze fittings show a light virtagris / oxidation greenish surface patina One of the small bronze rectangular D rings is missing at the bottom this historic American military medics battle pack has seen the preverbal elephant! Guaranteed original ( beware of reproductions) REAL UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT ISSUE ! circa 1917 Don’t pass it up !
