Description: An impressively large example of a original World War One Imperial German Feldlazarett (Field Hospital) Orderly's Large Cotton Armband Dated 1916 Worn by a combat medic at the German Military Hospital at Gincrey in The Meuse sector of the Western Front of North Eastern France in 1916-18. Screen printed in black on to a light-tan cotton armband, the front bears the legend Kriegslazarett over the International Red Cross in red with Gincrey underneath in Gothic Script and with the date of 1916 under the black silhouette of an Iron Cross on the rear. Measuring a very impressive 8" x 6" and in a superb condition, as located in France some years ago, (and still with fairly vibrant colouring despite its age), it compliments an Imperial German medic's back & front Army-Red Cross army tabard we sold last year. A superb, evocative & thought-provoking artifact from a Great War German Military Field Hospital located just behind the front line in N.E France Part of the on-going acquisition of a fascinating collection of Great War Barn-found, Trench-dug & Brocante-discovered artefacts from The Somme & Verdun in France and from the Ypres Salient of Belgium that was carefully built up & curated over a 40-year period . Thanks for looking..!
