Description: You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Trench Signal Lamp / Lantern! This was used as a way of communication between various strong points and trenches throughout the war. Comes complete with the original transport bag and candle holder. A signal lamp is a visual signaling device for optical communication, typically using Morse Code. It is a focused lamp which can produce a pulse of light, via a manually operated pressure switch. The lamps were usually equipped with some form of optical sight. They provide handy, secure communications during periods of radio silence as well as other times and were particularly useful during trench warfare. Made of aluminum, glass, and steel, this piece of equipment is in EXCELLENT used condition! Some slight scratches, wear, and paint chips due to the age, but still retains 95% of it's original paint! Everything is mechanically functional, and there are numerous Kanji markings throughout! The canvas bag stores the lamp itself, as well as Lens Filters (stored on the lid); cleaning tool; and Candles. Designed to sit on a table or to carried/hung by the user. The small candle storage box is designed to carry 4 large candles, and also features some writing on the front. Leather straps on the carry bag are a bit fragile, but still intact. Some stitching has come loose (see photo). Normally never seen on the market, it would make a PERFECT item for any collection or display! Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
