Description: a little history... back in the early to mid 1970s, DC comics re-introduced the golden age CAPTAIN MARVEL to their readers via the "SHAZAM" comic book. (they had to call it "shazam" because marvel comics held the copyright to "captain marvel" with their own hero of that name they introduced in 1968) to help kick off the reintroduction of the original captain marvel, dc wisely hired captain marvel's legendary original golden age writer/illustrator C.C. BECK, a towering figure in the field from his decades of work on the captain marvel family, drawing the comics from 1941 until DC sued fawcett pubishing out of existence, claiming capt. marvel was a rip-off of superman; incredibly, DC won their law suit! (and later DC bought the rights to all of fawcett's now defunct comic characters, thus setting the stage for captain marvel's rebirth 20 years later) in addition to CC BECK drawing and writing DC's newly-introduced shazam/captain marvel, DC paid him to make the rounds at the fairly new phenomenon of comic book conventions. i personally met CC Beck at one of these conventions in 1973/1974 in new york, and he chatted with me very pleasantly. i was 14 and really into comics so it was a thrill! ok, back to business... these 2 SHAZAM TREASURY EDITIONS (#C-21 and #C-27) are in beautiful high-grade condition, and most importantly... ***EACH ONE IS SIGNED ON PAGE 1 BY C.C.
