Description: This is a WWII era Navy Peacoat made from Kersey wool. Hand warmer pockets lined with tan corduroy. This appears to have been taylored, possibly to fit a woman, as the sleeves appear to have been hemmed about 2". This brings the end of the sleeve from around the thumb knuckle, back to around the watch line of the wrist. Typically WWII era Peacoats have 2 lines of stitching starting 3" from the tip of the sleeve. This has been hemmed to 0.5" passed the first layer of stitching. See pictures. There is some wear in the rayon lining near the collar and a tear that has been seen near the left inner pocket. The armpits are in great condition for the age. There are marks on the front where buttons had been previously sewn. They have been restored to their original position. The stenciling from issue is still in readable condition. NULPH R. This is a pre-1945 coat. This coat has been around for 80+ years when stuff was made to last. With some care, it could last another 80 years. Measurements: Pit to Pit: 17" Sleeve: 22" Length (with collar popped): 34" Length (with collar folded): 30" This coat fits like an adult Small.
