The Wish Keeper Urn is a Raku ceramic vessel. There is an inner chamber that is suspended from the lid by a silk cord, your thought or wish can be written on a parchment paper (supplied) and placed in the chamber. The Wish Keeper is fired to 1800 degrees, the vessel is then removed from the kiln and placed into combustible materials, this is where the magic happens. After washing, each piece emerges with its own distinct characteristics. Part of the Raku experience is the appreciation of all the variations that arrive through the spontaneous process. The seal on the front of the Wish Keeper is an ancient symbol for good fortune. The artist carved a wooden stamp, and presses it into wet clay thus sealing each vessel. Each piece is signed by the artist.
