The humor comes from several disastrous adventures the couple has while traveling including Tacy's awkward attempt to cook dinner in a moving trailer, and a cliffhanging ride through the mountains that nearly destroys their marriage. BEHIND THE SCENES TRIVIA : The trailer, a 1953 New Moon, used in the film is 32 feet in length and weighed more than 3 tons total. The New Moon trailers, produced by The Redman Trailer Co. After filming, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz kept the trailer used in the movie at their home. In an interview, daughter Lucie Arnaz recalls using it as the children's playhouse and how much fun they had opening and closing the door to hear the chimes. During the scenes of Nicky and Tacy pulling their trailer in the mountains, their 1953 Mercury Monterey convertible is replaced with a larger but similar appearing 1953 Lincoln Capri convertible. The distinct Lincoln grille is clearly evident in a shot as the car rounds a curve. The more powerful Lincoln (which is equipped with a 205 HP V8 engine) was needed to pull the heavy New Moon trailer up and over the steep grades of the California Sierras where the scenes were filmed. Included among the American Film Institute's 2000 list of the 500 movies nominated for the Top 100 Funniest American Movies.
