Description: Winchester Model 1897 12 Ga barrel shims for tightening the takedown on your shotgun. (works in 16 ga guns as well) includes three (3) .005" brass shims. If you've used all the adjustment on your barrel adjusting sleeve then these are a decent alternative. Not only are new adjusting sleeves selling for $70-$80, you also have to guess which one is going to solve your problem ( there are 9 to choose from ) . You'll hear from the occasional "expert" that shims are the incorrect way to solve the problem, or they're not safe, etc etc. When you think about all the guns that are being shot regulary while looser than a cheap "wh**e you'll understand that the quick fix shim method doesn't create an issue. There's an old saying "If it's stupid and it works, then it's not stupid." When we repair 1897's in our shop we swap the adjusting sleeves because we have a complete selection of all 9 or them. If we didn't have this alternative we'd shim. Instructions are included, if your gun is so loose that the shims won't correct the problem then you probably need to contact us for repairs.
