Description: First paperback edition of Command Decision, by William Wister Haines (Pocket Books, 1949). First written as a play in 1945, Command Decision tells the story of the bombing of Nazi Germany in WWII but focuses on the political infighting and stress involved in making the strategic decisions that lead to the bombing. Haines had trouble getting the play produced, so he rewrote the story as a novel, which became a bestseller and led to a successful run on Broadway and a 1949 film, by the same name, starring Clark Gable, Walter Pidgeon, and Van Johnson. This book is in very good condition overall, with a hinged rear cover but with a tight spine and no rips, tears, marks, or other major signs of wear.
