Description: A fine impressionist pastoral landscape with sheep grazing under the trees by American artist William Preston Phelps (1848-1923). Phelps was born in Chesham, New Hampshire, and after studying in Europe for seven years, returned to set up a studio in Lowell, Massachusetts and became well known for his plein aire New England landscape, animal and harbor scene paintings.
