Description: This auction is for a fabulous, large, relief moulded jug from William Brownfield & Son of Cobridge, Staffordshire. The jug has a glazed interior The central moulding is of a delightful winged Cupid playing cymbals. This is mounted by an overflowing fruit basket with ribbons and framed by garlands of harebells and scrolling leaves. The jug is fully embossed with a Victorian kite registration mark which dates the design to 1872 (Date cypher of 'I' in right corner) and with 'Cupid' W.B. & Son Cobridge plus '12'. The jug is in excellent antique condition with no cracks or repairs. There are a couple of age-related pin-prick specks mentioned only for completeness.
