Description: Wonderful 1960's Wildfowler Decoy Co. hand-painted Canada Goose Decoy, Stamped with two circular Wildfowler Decoy Co. Quogue impressed marks. Features glass eyes and made of balsa with original paint. Measures 21" long x 10 1/4" high x approx 9" wide and is in overall Excellent condition, retains original keel, paint splits at the neck, and nicks to paint and wood along edges commensurate with age and use. Founded by Ted Mulliken in 1939, Wildfowler Decoys were produced in Saybrook, Connecticut. In 1958 a fire destroyed Ted Mulliken’s Wildfowler operation and the business was sold to Robert Staniford (who had worked for Ted). Robert moved the Wildfowler decoy business to Quogue, Long Island. Staniford closed the decoy shop in the 1960’s and it was purchased in 1961 by Charlie Birdsall whee the operation was moved to Point Pleasant, NJ. The decoy operation was again moved, this time to Point Pleasant, New Jersey. stamped with the familiar Wildfowler, circular identification, and location on the decoy bottom.
