Description: White Dragon Fruit Tree Seeds (H. Undatus) Pitahaya "Strawberry Pear" Cactus Vine Dragon Fruit is Also Known as “Pitaya” or “Strawberry Pear”. Dragon Fruit Grows on a Climbing Cactus Plant that Can Grow from 15-20 Feet High and Can Live for as Long as Two Decades. The Flower Buds of the Fruit are Edible when Cooked. Dragon Fruits are Native to Southern Mexico and across Central and South America. Dragon Fruit is High in Vitamin C and Other Antioxidants, Which are Great for Your Immune System. It Can Boost Your Iron Levels. Iron is Important for Moving Oxygen Through your Body and Giving you Energy, and Dragon Fruit has Iron. And, the Vitamin C in Dragon Fruit Also Helps Your Body Take In and Use the Iron. Hylocereus undatus is a fast growing, epiphytic or xerophytic, vine-like cactus. Stems are triangular, 3-sided, although sometimes 4- or 5-sided, green, fleshy, jointed, many branched. Each stem segment has 3 flat wavy ribs and corneous margins may be spineless or have 1-3 small spines. Stems scandent, creeping, sprawling or clambering, up to 10 m long. Aerial roots, which are able to absorb water, are produced on the underside of stems and provide anchorage for stems on vertical surfaces. Flowers are 10-12 inches long, 6-7 inches wide, nocturnal, scented and hermaphroditic; however, some cultivars are self-compatible. Flowers are typically white in color and bell shaped, stamens and lobed stigmas are cream colored. Fruit is a fleshy berry, oblong to ovoid, up to 2-5 inches long, 1 1/2-3 1/2 inches thick, red with large bracteoles, pulp white, edible, embedded with many small black seeds. Average fruit weight is 1-2lbs.Dragon fruits come from Mexico and Central and Southern America. Not surprisingly they like warm conditions with mild winters and no frost. They can tolerate the occasional short burst of cold weather but ideally they should be kept above 10 degrees. They can handle heat, drought, humidity and poor soils but will grow tastier fruit with regular watering and rich soil. Choose a sunny spot and then boost the soil with compost, manure and certified organic pelletized fertilizer. A dose of lime is also beneficial. Soil needs to be free draining as these plants rot easily if the roots sit in water. Clay soils are not ideal but if that’s all you have then treat with gypsum and plant on a raised mound. Dragon Fruit also needs a bit more water than a cactus, but never too much. Always water once the soil is dry at appx. an inch deep. Alternatively they will happily grow in a large pot.Zones: 10-12Dragon Fruit Germination:1) Soak seeds in water for 36 hours.2) Use a heated propagator mat to keep the soil at 80-85 degrees F.3) Use a well mixed & well draining seed starting mix, and plant the seeds appx. 1/4-3/8" inches deep.4) Use a grow light, or keep them in a sunny window.5) Keep soil moist, but not wet at all times.6) Dragon Fruit seeds are small & fragile, so use a spray bottle to mist them so the seeds don't get jostled & buried to deep as that will cause them to rot. 7) Germination is erratic and can occur anywhere from 1-8 weeks, so don't toss out any that don't sprout quickly."Contact us First if You Need Anything"Germinación de la fruta del dragón:1) Remoje las semillas en agua durante 36 horas.2) Use una estera de propagación calentada para mantener la tierra a 80-85 grados F.3) Use una mezcla para iniciar las semillas bien mezclada y con buen drenaje, y plante las semillas a aproximadamente 1/4-3/8" de profundidad.4) Use una luz de cultivo o manténgalas en una ventana soleada.5) Mantenga la tierra húmeda, pero no mojada en todo momento.6) Las semillas de la fruta del dragón son pequeñas y frágiles, así que use una botella rociadora para rociarlas de modo que las semillas no se sacudan y se entierren demasiado profundamente, ya que eso hará que se pudran.7) La germinación es errática y puede ocurrir en cualquier momento entre 1 y 8 semanas, así que no deseche las que no broten rápidamente."Contáctenos primero si necesita algo"
