Description: Walter Von Nessen Pattyn Era Machine Age Skyscaper Deco Aluminum & Bakelite Lamp c.1936 - RESTOREDThis powerful example of machine age design dates to the mid 1930's. This large stepped lamp was precision machined from two solid pieces of aluminum separated with butterscotch catalin rings on a based comprised of brown and black bakelite. The top two steps below the bulb socket appear to be chrome plated. The lamp is both solid and substantial, weighing close to three pounds. While the design is quite similar to lamps of that era which were produced by Pattyn and attributed to Walter Von Nessen, exact provenance is could not be ascertained. This lamp has been restored and refurbished and is ready for contemporary use. The original push switched "fat boy" socket has been retained and bulb contacts have been cleaned and polished. Wiring has been refurbished with new reproduction rayon covered cord and new vintage style plug. Four rubber cushions have been applied to the underside of the base (see final photo). A standard medium base light bulb is utilized (not included). IMPORTANT: The black linen shade shown in the photos is NOT included with your purchase.
