Description: WALTER & MAY REUTHER baseball hat UAW Family Education Center snapback cap 1980s This is a previously-owned, adult-sized, white and black hat with “Walter & May Reuther / UAW Family Education Center” printed on the front (Adjust-A-Tab brand). It is a trucker-style cap with a curved peak, a mesh back, and a plastic-snap adjuster in the back (to quickly fit most wearers). Of note, there are a few marks on the crown -- see picture. It will need soaked or spot-cleaned for maximum satisfaction... Walter Reuther was a labor union leader who made the United Automobile Workers (UAW) a major force not only in the auto industry but also in the Democratic Party and the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) in the mid 20th century. He was a socialist in the early 1930s, but, by 1949, had become a leading liberal and supporter of the New Deal coalition, working to strengthen the labor union movement, raise wages, and give union leaders a greater voice in state and national Democratic party politics. During the 1960s he was a major supporter of the civil rights movement. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
