This beautiful Victorian Davenport Desk weighs approximately 70 pounds and measures 47” in height (from the floor to the top of the Gallery), 24 ¼” in width, and 24 ¼” in depth. The top of this lovely desk is graced with a fancy carved dogwood and foliate leaf gallery flanked with petite half-urns that sits above a small shelf that is supported with pierced side sconces. The top portion of the gallery with the carving is removable. You will be sure to notice the large raised diamond-shaped medallion in the recessed area below the shelf. The lift-top surface of this handsome desk has its original old leather writing surface intact. This lift-top writing surface opens to reveal the inside of the desk, where you will find a large storage compartment along with four slotted compartments and two petite drawers with wooden pulls. Additional storage opportunity is found on the right side of this handsome desk in the lovely dovetailed top drawer with fancy carved wooden pull as well as behind the door compartment beneath. Both the lovely dovetailed top drawer and the door have intact locks and a working tasseled key is included. Please note: The door has had a repair near the hinges at some point in time and it works very well (see eBay photos). You will notice that what appears to be a set of drawers on the left side of the desk is actually a decorative non-functioning façade for aesthetic purposes.
