Description: Vintage collectible, "Wings of Texaco" 1929 Lockheed Air Express metal diecast model plane coin bank made in 1993. The plane is officially licensed by Texaco and is the first in a series of authentically scaled, 1:48, model plane coin banks produced by Texaco Oil for Kipp Bros.Inc by Ertl Co. Inc. The plane is red with exact details of the original plane including landing gear and a rotating propeller. It is stock/item # 3801UO and was a limited edition. The plane measures 7 1/2" long, has a 12" wingspan and sits 3" high. Decals of the Texaco Star logo, the US map and call letters NR-7955 are on the sides, tail, wing tops and wing underside. The nose of the plane rotates to the top revealing a slot to drop coins in and a panel on the bottom lets you retrieve them. There is an open cockpit with a plastic window right behind the wings. The plane comes in its original box with plastic molded packaging and an info paper about the specs of the real plane and other potential plane model releases. The box has a stamped number on the back of 2143. It is in excellent, undamaged condition. There is some very minor paint wear on the white nose stripe underside where the coins are inserted.
