Today I am offering this vintage and very hard-to-find dinner plate by designer Massimo Vignelli for Sasaki. Production began in 1986 for this Birch color pattern from Sasaki's Colorstone line. This is a discontinued pattern. This minimalist plate is a glossy peppered cream color. It looks matte at first glance, but it actually has a subtle grainy appearance glossy finish. It's considered a textured pattern, but it's smooth to the touch. The rim edge is unglazed. These clean lines give it a definite zen mid-century modern vibe. It measures approximately 10" across the top. The printed hallmark on the underside reads as follows: SASAKI Colorstone Birch By Vignelli Designs Inc. 1986 Oven-Dishwasher Microwave Safe Made in Japan The condition is vintage, pre-owned used. The top surface has a lot of utensil marks!!! That is why this is priced way under market value. Otherwise, there are no chips, cracks, or crazing. The bottom and underside rim is super clean with no shelf wear. These do not come along too often, (even in this less-valued condition), so don't sleep on this deal. As you can see by the screenshot picture I included, even Replacements-dot-com doesn't have this piece in stock. It will look great with any mid-century modern or minimalist theme decor. At the time of this posting I have six of these plates available in similar condition. (I have two dinner plates listed separately in better condition.)
