Description: Vintage N.Y. & C.M.S.S. Co. New York & Cuba Mail Steamship Co. Ironstone Pitcher Up for auction is an ironstone water pitcher from New York & Cuba Mail Steamship company. It appears to be designed to sit in a washstand with a center cutout. It measures approximately 12" tall. There is a base chip that appears to be from a bubble burst - see last photo. It shows some wear, scratches and stains. Please see photos for condition. Company Historythe N.Y. & C.M.S.S. Co. New York & Cuba Mail Steam Ship Company. It was known as the New York & Cuba Mail Steam Ship Company from 1881 through the early 1900's. The company operated out of Piers 15, 16, and Pier 17 in Manhattan (South Street Seaport). The ships were used by the U.S. Government during the Spanish-American War. The company was later known as the Ward Line, which operated the S.S. Morro Castle and other steamships. It was also known as the New York and Cuba Mail Line steam ship company.
