Description: Vintage Mid Century Modern Scheurich Keramik West German Art Pottery Vase Fat Lava Era Measures 10 3/8 inches tall by 2 7/8 inches across the lip and 4 inches across the bottom Condition: Pre-owned. Absolutely beautiful Mid Century Scheurich Keramik West German art pottery vase. It features an abstract design with ovals and lines in a light navy blue with a pinky-purple wash in the center and flecks of greenish-brown splatter on the top and bottom on a off white base. Glaze is matte. The design is lightly raised (probably a slip glaze technique). The finish has a light bubble that's classic of the fat lava glaze technique. This is much understated and a lot smoother than the thick ground down lava glazes. The top has a rim around the lip which narrows into a shoulder. The vase then opens up and widens out. The widest part is the slightly rounded bottom. It rests on a hidden foot. The bottom has the design number (206-26) and West Germany marking. It's also nice that it has retained its original sticker. The sticker is loose around the edges, but it's nice that it quite clearly IDs this piece as a Scheurich Keramik. The inside is extremely clean. It's a great piece and has been keep in good shape. There are no chips or cracks.
