Description: This Vintage handmade jack-in-the-box by Jax of Maine, USA was recently found in an old St. Louis estate and features an artist who we believe is Salvador Dali . He is at work, dressed in a paint spattered smock holding a brush in one hand and the other in his pocket, just contemplating his next brushstroke! He is a real character, complete with a Salavdor Dali style moustache and disheveled brown hair. It is a fun piece, you have to find the secret panel to open the box so it is certainly a surprise when he pops up! (Of course we will tell you which panel it is!) He has a cloth tag which dates him to 1987 and the bottom of the box states it is not suitable for children under five. Jax specialized in making traditional jacks-in-boxes, their pieces were handcrafted in Maine, USA. The box measures: 4.50"high x 4.25" wide x 4.25" deep. The opening surprise mechanism works appropriately and easily. There is a small separation on the back of the box which does not distract or interfere with the movement.
