Description: This is an unusual item. After extensive research I have found no other ones like it. It has a military feel about it. I don't know if it is a messenger bag, medical bag, saddle bag, satchel, small knapsack, or what. At first I thought it was a fishing creel, or game bag, but I have pretty much eliminated this. This is what I do know:The back of the bag is made of heavy vinyl and forms a sort of pocket that the canvas portion rests in.Heavy leather straps hold the back together and provide latches.There is a fabric shoulder strap, but there are also two heavy loops at the top. Would this be for attaching to a saddle, or something similar? That would explain why the back is heavy vinyl to protect the bag from horse sweat. Just surmising.The strip of leather across the top front is embossed "H. JAGGI, ROHRBACH DE 77". I believe the name might be Hans Jaggi. The DE is for Germany. Rohrbach is a city in Germany. I don't know what the 77 is. Possibly a year?On the back of one of the top leather loops there is a Swiss Cross and the letters "CA".The canvas portion of the bag flips open to reveal a the opening in the bag. There are a couple of dividers inside. There is a heavy metal hook that secures the pocket.I am open to any input you might have about this item.
