Porcelain and chrome top unit Porcher has been purchased in 1992 by American standard so this is a vintage unit that was never used or put on a tub. The English hand shower diverter is on the shaft. I have marked the image so you can see how the French diverter valve works. It moves up and down and is part of the shaft where the handset sets. See arrows on photothe shower porcelain handle has scratches i have a close up photo for your review this set is as is and has never been used.
