Description: These items are from the estate of a long-time collector of items from a variety of fraternal organizations. The owner was a Past Worshipful Master and 49 year Mason prior to his death, belonged to the Shrine (member of the Clown Corp for many years), Scottish Rite, Grottoes of North America (MOVPER), Eastern Star, and Advisory Board Member and Grand Cross of Color recipient of the Grand Cross of Color, Order of the Rainbow for Girls. These are pieces he used and others he collected. This deal of four (4) vintage items includes an Order of the Eastern Star ritual with the name Vivian Lee in it, Fourth Edition, amended September 1937; By-Laws of Westport Chapter No.345 O.E.S. Kansas City, Missouri, dated 1932; Westport Chapter Constitution and ByLaws, dated 1970; and the commemorative souvenir (simulates a Holy Bible) from the Installation of Officers for Westport Chapter in 1944, with Beatrice McEntire as Worthy Matron and Paul L. Smith as Worthy Patron. The Bible verse from Matthew 28:20 is included: "Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world". Research indicates the Westport Chapter #345 in Kansas City no longer exists so these items will be extra-special pieces to have. The Order of the Eastern Star is a Masonic appendant body for both men and women. It was established by Rob Morris, a noted Freemason, lawyer and educator, in 1850, and adopted and approved as an appendant body of the Masonic Fraternity in 1873. Dr. Morris was also a Master Mason and Poet Laureate of Masonry. In his quest to share the principles of Masonry with women, he and his wife, Charlotte, developed the concepts and beliefs that formed the foundation for the Eastern Star.
