Description: This is a stunning handmade brass art piece by Metal sculpture Egidio Casagrande. Egidio Casagrande (1911-1962). He worked in brass and copper. He was born in Borgo Valsugana, Italy, in the northern province of Trento (August 28, 1911), and died there (June 11, 1962). At thirteen he was apprenticed in the workshop of Luigi Taddei, specializing in the production of iron and copper. In 1937 he moved to Milan where he opened a workshop for the production of copper objects, but after a few years returned to his village. His company grew and at one point he had about a hundred workers and apprentices. He made sculptures for public places. He worked with Hollywood films such as Ben Hur, The Ten Commandments, and The Fall of the Roman Empire, that were filmed in Italy. This is an original vintage Mid Century modern Italian artist sculpture by Egidio Casagrande A large pierced brass wall hanging plaque of a Mandala or Sun made of solid brass. Truly is a work of art. Hand-pierced and embossed with fine elaborate floral and geometric designs with relief and raised patterns. Stamped Egidio Casagrande Italia Borgo Trento numbered, 2. Made in the Moorish influence or style made in Italy c.1950. In very good vintage condition with dark rich patina. This item may have minor wear or discoloration due to age which is normal. It has a few light scratches. Again, this item is in very good vintage condition. The color is a vibrant brass gold color. Some of the pics make it look lighter in color however it is not. Measurements 26 1/4” diameter and 2 1/8” deep.
