Beene remains the winner of the most Coty Awards in American fashion and is a member of the Fashion Hall of Fame. His iconic designs have dressed long list of celebrities and dignitaries including First Ladies and Academy Award winning actresses. This particular four piece set belonged to my mother who purchased it in the 1970s. She rarely wore it and it has been carefully preserved. Set includes a shirt, culotte style pants, a jacket, and a tie-style belt. The entire set is made from 100% cotton in seer sucker material that is striped in shades of red. The top was designed with a seam that encircles the chest and has two buttoned pockets above each breast. The pants are cropped and cut with extremely wide legs. They feature a side zipper and pockets. The long cut jacket also has a couple of pockets hidden in the seams. The pretty sash styled belt can be worn over the jacket or simply with the shirt and pants. The jacket and top were originally sized as a 4 and the pants were originally a size 10.
