Description: This fashionable mini shift dress was made by a sewist some time in the mid to late 1960s from a cotton velveteen patterned with a psychedelic swirl of magenta, red, orange, gold, yellow, lime and pink. The cuffed short sleeves are cut in one piece with the front and back yokes, which can be seen more clearly in the detail photo of the inside of the yoke. The dress is fully lined with a light pink synthetic fabric. There is a 19" nylon zipper in the center back. As this is a straight shift dress, the bust, waist, hips and bottom opening are all 36". The circumference of the sleeve cuff is 11". The back length from neckline to hem is 33.5". There is a 2.5" hem. I think it could be possible to let down the hem as much as 2" if needed. I do not see a wear line around the hem edge and I think it could be made wet and dry ironed flat, pushing the pile of the velvet toward the bottom edge of the fabric to eliminate the crease. I do not guarantee there would be no mark however. The velveteen is in excellent condition with no spots or stains. The pink lining does show yellowing and bleaching from sweat and two small holes. The lining is probably nylon, polyester or a blend. It is not structural or particularly necessary and most of it could be removed easily. Please enlarge the photos to see all the details.
