Description: This is a stunning vintage gold tone necklace made by Alva Studio Replicas for the Smithsonian Institute Museum Store, apparently done in the 1970s. The Butterfly or Moth was part of a Taoist display in the museum and the design is taken from the original. In the ancient Chinese philosophy of Taoism, the butterfly is one of the symbols of Immortality. The necklace is 20 inches long, the butterfly is 3 inches by 1 5/8 inches and both are done a lovely rich gold color. Pre owned condition is excellent.
