Description: Seersucker is the name for a slightly puckered light weight cotton fabric that was REALLY popular in the 1st half of the last century - before synthetics. It was really popular as it didn't need to be ironed. This was a big benefit, as 100% cotton in the 1950's wrinkled terribly. There were a number of fabric types that cut down on the wrinkles, and thus, made them more popular. Ironing was a big deal, in the first half of the last century! Ladies would often "take in ironing" and do it for 10 cents a piece. This is a remnant of seersucker from the 1950's. It is a colorful red, green, beige and bright yellow Indians mixed in with implements and a afew stagecoaches. It was meant originally for little boys, but because it is so charming, can be used for anyone, these days. Or crafts. Great for crafts!! The background color is a very dark navy as it appears in my first photo, not black, as it looks in my second photo. It is still "new" - the fabric sill has it's original sizing. I didn't find any stains or issues. I have a fairly large collection of vintage fabrics that I am in the process of listing, so check back. I have just opened one large container (I have about 5 containers), and will be listing it over the next few months. Ditto with my other collections (lots of paper - gift wrap, greeting cards, valentines and more).
