This race intercooler will allow for more horsepower gains by reducing intake temperatures and preventing heat soak. With this intercooler you can expect a decrease in temperature during a 3rd gear pull, compared to a 32 degree rise on a OEM intercooler.Intercooler CoreThe most important component of any intercooler is the core. The core cools the charged air from the turbo before it enters the engine and the OEM BMW tube and fin intercooler is designed to support low boost levels and air flow. Once boost levels and air flow are increased, the OEM unit is easily overwhelmed and can not keep up with the cooling demands of a tune running more than OEM boost levels. This results in heat soak which will result in a power loss and a higher potential for pre-detonation in the upper RPM range.VRSF remedies this problem with an ultra high density 1100hp custom bar and plate core design which utilizes a staggered and offset internal and external fin pack. The core has been carefully tuned to provide the the best intake temperature reduction while maintaining minimal pressure drop. The bar & plate core is also much more durable than the OEM tube and fin core, with a better ability to withstand rocks and other debris. This intercooler was specifically designed for upgraded turbo cars running larger twin turbos or single turbos. Finish and ConstructionVRSF's intercooler features CFD backed, cast aluminum end tanks for improved flow in comparison to sheet metal end tanks. The one piece seamless cast end tanks are also more durable than comparable sheet metal or multiple piece end tanks. Also note that the bumper cover does not require trimming or removal for installation.
