Description: A half-leather edition of The Jasmine Farm by Elizabeth Von Arnim, beloved author of one of my favourite novels, The Enchanted April. Von Arnim was a fascinating woman, spending most of her life travelling from one European property to another, starting trends and hosting scandalous parties. This particular title follows Lady Midhurst, something of a Von Arnim herself, who retreats to a luxurious jasmine farm in France after discovering that her husband is having an affair. Externally, there are some scratches and light wear to this book's boards, spine, edges and corners. The title labels are a little scuffed, and the board top is slightly sunned. Internally, this book has an ink inscription to the front free endpaper, but the pages are in very good condition with bright, clear text and minimal yellowing. The binding is strong. Half-bound in a beige sheep/goat leather with marbled boards, this item is further decorated with a gilt top edge, marbled endpapers, and gilt motifs and lettering to the spine amidst two title labels of different colours. 375pg. 18.5x12cm.
