Description: Menlo Park Ceramic Works, Menlo Park, NJ 1879-1914 Rare tile from Charles Volkmar depicting a woman playing a piano. Raised lines create the image and there is glossy glaze in off white and mottled beige. Measures 6" x 6" x 1/2" thick. The condition is very good; does have edge chips and wear due to age. Signed, never set. We have only seen a few tiles by this East Coast company. Last 2 photos show images found in publications. Comes from Norman Karlson's tile collection. He researched antique tile and published books on American Art tile.
