Description: Description-9-28-20-5Vintage Vietnam lacquer Hanoi LE SANG life on Vietnam river COUNTRY SCENE.1950-60's.Made in Vietnam- Wood lacquered made especially by Vietnamese highly skilled Artist, It is very labor intensive. The wood is covered by multiple coats of lacquer with sanding between layers to create a durable piece of art of great beauty. They are made to last.The title is LE SANG- French translates to Blood – a loose translation to mean country roots and family relationships due to birth. It measures 23.50” wide x 15.75” tall Lacquer is an organic substance obtained from the tree in a similar way to natural rubber. It comes out of the tree as a white sap that changes to brown upon exposure to air. The sap is stored in airtight container for three to four months to allow settling. Caring- A lacquer painting is very durable. The board is hard and strong and is not easily damaged. The surface of clear lacquer is protective and the painting can easily be polished by the palm of the hand to make it clearer and more lustrous. Vietnamese lacquer paintings are truly a piece of art that may last for generations. Great vintage condition- no damage to the front, design part - there is some chipping around the edges corners, and a slight warping of the wood- hardly visible perhaps drying of wood or aging, hard to notice.
