Description: My grandfather bought this fabulous fur coat for my grandmother when they were in Paris together in the 1960s. When she passed, I inherited it. But without the right occasion to wear it, I would like to find it a good home. I recently had the coat appraised by the owner of Alex Furs, a high-quality furrier in Toronto, Canada, who informed me that the coat is Broadtail fur (also known as Swakara) and Persian Lamb. This type of lamb comes from Afghanistan, South Africa and Russia. According to the furrier, it takes a real craftsmen to pull off a broadtail coat, as it is very complicated to match the pelts and blend them together to look uniform. It usually takes around 3 to 4 weeks to make one coat. A new broadtail coat today usually goes for around $30K to $50K. Due to the natural drying of fur pelts over time, the coat has admittedly seen better days, and has ripped in several small places as shown in photos. The furrier has advised me that it is indeed possible to repair the coat, but as there is no guarantee the work will last, it's recommended to just leave it as is. I've been informed this would also be a perfect costume for film, television, or stage, and a great DIY project for home crafters and fur aficionados. The buttons in particular are very one-of-a-kind vintage designs, and in excellent condition. The coat has been valued at around $500 CAD. I'm listing it for its valued price, or for a suitable offer. I'm excited to find the right owner for this very beautiful piece!
