Description: Vintage Wedgwood Majolica Plate Dimensions are approximately: diameter: 20.5cms (8 1/4" ins) This vintage majolica plate was produced by established English company Wedgwood circa 1933. The plate is decorated with a molded cabbage leaf relief to the centre and an embossed basket weave border. The plate is a lovely deep green colour. The size is good for salads or fruit. (one with an imperfection on the back of the plate, see last photo). Allover fine crazing is apparent which is more visible to the back of the plates. Some small areas of wear (mainly the highest points of the molded relief in the centre) here and there to all plates, nothing to reduce the overall effect or use of the plates. Manufacturer Minton began to produce decorative tiles for the interiors of train stations and buildings across England. Wedgwood began producing its own line of Palissy Ware and Majolica once Minton’s patent expired. By the early 20th century, Majolica’s popularity faded.
