Description: This is a vintage wood shafted Putting Cleek Golf Club made by Tom Stewart, St. Andrews. It has his "Pipe Cleek Mark," and has the writing, "T.S ST.AREG TRADE MARK under the cleek mark. He began using that phrase in 1905 so that helps date it a bit. Above his oval trademark are stamped the letters, "CPECIAL," and what appear to be, "Hand forged, Scotland." It has a wood shaft and leather wrapped handle. Both appear to be original. The Club is 35 inches from the top of the handle to the bottom of the club head which is four inches long. It weighs 15.8 ounces. We are not experts but the Club appears to us to be in excellent condition with the leather handle intact, the shaft nearly straight and tight with no cracking, and the club head with virtually no signs of abuse. It has rich patina and has not been polished but we did use machine oil to wipe off a bit of rust. Tom Stewart Jr. lived from 1861 to 1930. His company made thousands of different club heads and they were considered to be of the highest quality. His club heads were used by the most famous players of the day such as Bobby Jones and Harry Vardon. His Cleek Putters are not common at all and this one is in wonderful condition. We can ship it within the U.S. for $12.00 and we accept returns for any reason within 30 days.
