Description: Vintage Stieff Rose Sterling Silver Lot of 2 Hollow Handle French Knives with Bolster and Stainless Blade We currently have numerous pieces in Stieff Rose flatware for sale. This pattern is part of the great tradition of floral repousse silver made in Baltimore beginning in the 19th Century. Because this pattern relied upon use of dies, the precise design varies over time as the die became dull and new dies were introduced. Dies were hand carved, so the variation is part of the charm of collecting this pattern. To make the pattern even more intriguing, the pattern varies between types of pieces. The handle of the teaspoon does not exactly match the handle of the knife for instance. And the collection we are currently offering was collected over time by an owner long ago. Style: French Knife with Bolster in Rose pattern introduced in 1892 Number of Pieces: 2 Hallmark: The Stieff Co.
