Description: 2003 Vintage Shearwater Pottery 10”Figure/Figurine Dick Whittington & His Cat Underglaze This listing is for a beautiful vintage Shearwater Pottery figurine from 2003. It stands at 10 inches tall and 10 1/8 inches wide. It features the beloved character of Dick Whittington and his cat. The figurine is made of ceramic and has a beautiful multicolor finish, painted in underglaze technique. The piece one from the lovely works of Shearwater Pottery Figurines. The figurine is designed on the work of Walter Anderson, the inspiration for this design being one of the characters of Ocean Springs daily life at the time Walter Anderson was living and working in the town. We were fortunate to have purchased it in 2003 in their studio in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. This was just before the famed pottery was pounded by Hurricane Katrina. We lived there for several years and came to know many of the Anderson family and hence, know and love the beautiful Shearwater motif. It is incised with “S 03” on the underside of the base.
